Dunatetétlen, Csárda Kurgan

The hill is near Route 53 at the crossing towards Dunatetétlen.

Accessible on foot, throughout the year

Csárda Hill was created by heightening a natural ridge near a large creek of the Danube Valley, called Nagy Creek. This hill was one of those few places, to where local people could withdraw during the regular floods of the Danube.

Artificial hills like this are also called kurgans in the region, and were created with a laborious work of local people centuries ago. Due to its height, Csárda Hill could be a prime watchpoint and was a useful landmark for orientation.

The hill is an archeological site, and, being a kurgan, it is an ex lege protected area of national importance.
